Major refiners in India rejected commercial offers for Russian oil in March and April, Reuters sources reported.

With purchases of 1,700,000 barrels per day last year, Delhi is the largest customer of the Russian oil industry since the war in Ukraine broke out four years ago.

So far, it has not officially announced that it is abandoning Russian supplies, but it is determined to successfully conclude negotiations for a trade agreement with the United States.

One of the conditions is precisely the abandonment of these supplies, the agency recalls.

US President Donald Trump has already canceled punitive duties of 25 percent on Indian goods, but Washington continues to monitor Indian refineries.

A possible loss of the Indian market will have a severe impact on the finances and economy of the Russian Federation, which is investing a significant part of its declining treasury revenues in the war against Ukraine. This was commented on by Russian economist Prof. Igor Lipsits in an interview for the program "Saturday 150".
