Venezuelan opposition politician Juan Pablo Guanipa, who was released from prison a day earlier, has been kidnapped in the capital Caracas. The news was reported by opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, reports “Reuters“, quoted by News.bg.

In a post on the social network X, Machado stated that “heavily armed men in civilian clothes who arrived in four cars took him by force“.

Guanipa's son, Ramon, specified that the kidnapping took place shortly before midnight. He describes it as an ambush in which his father was taken out by ten heavily armed and unidentified individuals.

Juan Pablo Guanipa was arrested in May 2025 after months on the run, accused of leading a terrorist plot. He was released from prison hours before his abduction.
