The political course of the ruling PAS party in Moldova could lead the country to a repeat of the Ukrainian conflict, Igor Dodon, head of the republic from 2015 to 2020 and leader of the Socialist Party, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

„I am most worried that the Moldovan authorities and politicians will not repeat the mistakes of others. Because I see in Moldova elements of the scenario that has already been implemented in Ukraine: closing media outlets, banning parties, pressure on the opposition, attacks on the church,” the politician said.

Relations between Moscow and Chisinau began to deteriorate after President Maia Sandu, who adheres to pro-European policies, came to power at the end of 2020.
