Poland is preparing a lawsuit against Russia for damages it claims were caused during the Polish People's Republic, when the country was an ally of the USSR, the "Financial Times" reported, quoted by TASS, BTA reported.

According to the newspaper, on the orders of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a group of historians has been formed to assess the events of World War II and the subsequent decades of the Cold War and the negative consequences that the influence of the USSR led to. In Warsaw, they call the project long-term and note difficulties with access to archival materials. It is emphasized that it is too early to talk about possible amounts of claims against Russia, the newspaper writes.

"Financial Times" recalls that Poland previously demanded compensation from Germany for damage caused during World War II. In December last year, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that the issue of reparations "from a German point of view, legally and politically, has been finally settled a long time ago".
