France is ready to help maintain shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz.
This was stated by President Emmanuel Macron after a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian.
“It is essential that Iran restore freedom and security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible and France is ready to facilitate this“, Macron wrote in his letter.
According to the head of state, in his conversation with the Iranian president he stressed “the importance of respecting the ceasefire, including in Lebanon“.
“France fully supports the actions of the Lebanese authorities, who are the only legitimate authorities“, he stressed Macron.
He expressed the view that Iran should “seize the opportunity offered by the negotiations launched in Islamabad to pave the way for sustainable de-escalation and a meaningful agreement that provides credible security guarantees in the region with the participation of all parties involved“.
