Official authorities in Rabat have come out with a position that Moroccan security forces are facing an inability to control the massive migrant pressure on the Spanish enclave in North Africa – Ceuta.

The Moroccan side argues the complicated situation with a recent decision by the Spanish Supreme Court in July, which prohibits the immediate return to Morocco of migrants caught at sea. According to Rabat, these legal changes in Madrid are interpreted by traffickers as a “green light” and generate mass appeals on social networks. The chronology of events and the details surrounding the crisis are analyzed in detail in the special section of Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) about the migrant crisis in Ceuta in 2026.

According to data from European agencies, quoted by the Japanese television channel NHK World (nhk.or.jp), since the end of July, nearly 80,000 people - mostly young men - have managed to cross the border illegally, swimming around the breakwaters or walking along the coastline. The situation is critical and has forced the local government of Ceuta to ask Madrid to declare a state of emergency. Although Moroccan police have made hundreds of arrests along the border in recent days, clashes have already led to the deaths of at least 90 people. As reported by the media group Al Jazeera (aljazeera.com), Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described the events as a direct violation of the country's territorial sovereignty and sent army units to reinforce border control.
