Lithuania and Poland conduct military exercises

The militaries of Lithuania and Poland, with the participation of NATO allies, conduct exercises in the area of the so-called Suwalki Corridor. “Participants in the exercise were tasked with brigade-level staff training on planning and conducting defensive military operations in interaction with units of NATO allies,“, the command of the Lithuanian army announced.

1,500 servicemen from the Samogit Motorized Infantry Brigade are participating in the exercises. and allied units, as well as about 200 units of combat equipment. In addition to Polish units, American and Portuguese servicemen participate in the training. The exercises will continue until April 26.

The Suwalki Corridor is a strategically important section of the Lithuanian-Polish border with a length of about 64 km, bordering the Kaliningrad Region of Russia and the Grodno Region of Belarus. With its possible closure, Lithuania finds itself isolated by land from its Western NATO partners.
