The UAE authorities imposed a fine for the distribution of photos and videos related to the consequences of the flooding in Dubai. As the country's authorities have stated, such images wreak havoc among the population. The fine depends on the amount of materials and can reach 1 million dirhams.

Last week, the UAE Meteorological Department recorded the highest rainfall in 75 years. Hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled because of the disaster. The airport and the largest shopping mall in Dubai, Dubai Mall, were flooded.

The rain stopped only on April 18. In a message to the nation, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, said authorities would “quickly begin investigating the state of infrastructure in the UAE and limit the damage caused.“
