Klitschko: Ukraine could disappear within months, I have not met the president since the beginning of the war

The mayor of Kyiv believes that the rulers are not making enough efforts in the fight against corruption

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko believes that the measures taken by the Ukrainian government to fight corruption are insufficient. He expressed his point of view in an interview with the media group Funke.

„You can ask this question to any citizen and I am sure that every citizen will answer: “no”, said Klitschko, answering the question of whether the Ukrainian authorities are doing enough to fight corruption. “I have absolutely the same opinion”, he added.

Commenting on his relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the mayor of Kyiv said that he had never met him personally since the beginning of the Russian special operation. “I have tried this countless times since the beginning of the war, because a lot depends on the capital,”, said Klitschko. - But, unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to meet Zelensky in person. He probably has other things to do."

During the current conflict, according to the mayor of Kyiv, there is no unity of political forces.

„Today we must be united, we must forget about our political ambitions”, noted Klitschko. “To enter into political competition in such a situation is stupid.“

The mayor of Kyiv called provocative the question of whether he himself wants to become president. "Many politicians think about positions. Ukraine may cease to exist in a few months if we do not become strong, he said. “Unfortunately, there are too many politicians in the central government for whom personal ambitions are much more important than the interests of the country.“
