The president and head of the Russian Church exchanged Easter gifts.

Putin always attends services during major church holidays. Usually on Christmas he goes to churches outside the Moscow region, on Easter - to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Only twice did the head of state celebrate this holiday outside of Moscow - in 2000 at St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg and in 2003 at the "Saint Nicholas" in Dushanbe, where he was visiting. In 2020, the president skipped the Easter service due to the coronavirus pandemic, but lit a candle in the chapel at his residence in Novo-Ogarevo near Moscow.
