A driver of a car died after crashing it into one of the portals of the White House last night, said the authorities, quoted by the Associated Press, transmitted by BTA
The driver was found dead in the vehicle after it crashed into a gate at the outer perimeter of the US presidential complex shortly before 10:30 p.m., the Secret Service said.
Security protocols were immediately activated, but there is no threat to the White House, the service said.
The identity of the driver of the car is unknown at this time.
The Secret Service will continue the investigation into the case together with the Washington police, the service added.
