Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country must defeat the armed units of the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" in the city of Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"We must defeat "Hamas" in Rafah. So far, we have destroyed twenty of their twenty-four battalions,'' the Israeli prime minister added, noting at the same time that his country had lost hundreds of soldiers.
Netanyahu expressed hope that he and US President Joe Biden would "overcome some differences".
"We have often reached agreement, but we have also had disagreements. We were able to overcome them. I hope we will overcome them now, too, he said in an interview with the TV show Dr. Phil. with host Phil McGraw, referring to President Biden's suspension of US arms supplies to Israel, according to Reuters.
On the other hand, the Israeli Prime Minister is of the opinion that "there will be a need for some kind of civilian rule in the Gaza Strip, perhaps with the help of the United Arab Emirates or other countries that want stability" in the region.
