Lithuania elects a president in a runoff

The current head of state and the country's prime minister reached the second round

The current Lithuanian head of state and the country's prime minister will face each other today in a presidential runoff, AFP reported, quoted by the BNR.

In the vote two weeks ago, President Gitanas Nauseda received 44% of the vote, and Prime Minister Ingrida Shimonite – 20 percent, according to Reuters.

Nauseda is expected to retain his post, albeit with a small lead.

The election campaign was marked by the war in Ukraine.
