After returning to the country from the NATO summit in Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today , that more military aid is to be received for Ukraine, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
Specific agreements were made aimed at increasing Ukraine's defense capacity, including weapons for the troops and support for the country's arms industry, he wrote in "X". Zelensky mentioned the "Patriot" (Patriot) and other air defense systems, but did not provide details.
In the past week alone, Russian forces have dropped more than 700 planning bombs, 170 aerial drones of various types and almost 80 missiles on Ukrainian targets, he said.
He expressed his gratitude to all those helping to deliver defense systems to Ukraine, while again calling for more air defense systems. In support of his call, Zelensky published a video showing the destruction and the victims.
He also announced security agreements with the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Ireland, which he visited on his way back from Washington. Zelensky recently signed similar agreements with Poland, Luxembourg and Romania. The purpose of the agreements is to act in the period before Ukraine joins NATO, DPA points out.
After meetings with US President Joe Biden and other US politicians, Zelensky now intends to meet with regional leaders in Ukraine to boost cooperation. "Health care, shelters, defense industry and more. The U.S. is ready to help at all these levels," he said.
Zelensky also again condemned the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during an election rally.
"Heinous crime. One that can only be condemned. And which shows how serious the global challenges to democracy are at the moment," the Ukrainian president said, while adding that he was confident the US would overcome them.
