There was real drama in the skies over Croatia when a smaller plane entered the country's airspace but failed to respond to air traffic controllers' calls. This prompted the authorities to raise a whole squadron of MiGs into the air, reports AvioRadar, quoted by Focus.

The "Piper PA-24" entered Croatian airspace around 10:50 on Sunday (July 21) but failed to establish contact with regional air traffic control even after repeated calls.

The 191st Fighter Squadron on duty was dispatched to intercept the smaller aircraft. According to unofficial data from AvioRadar, the radios of the aircraft in question were tuned to the wrong channel, which is why no contact was established with the crew. There is no official information on the nature of the small plane's problem or the reason for its entry into Croatian airspace.
