Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in a message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that he will strengthen cooperation with Pyongyang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea announced today, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.
"I declare that I will work for further cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to be filled with new content and common programs to provide mutual benefits to improve the welfare of the peoples of our countries," said in Lukashenko's statement.
His statement was made in response to Pyongyang's congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday of Belarus, the message said.
Both North Korea and Belarus have close relations with Russia, which has become more diplomatically isolated on the world stage since the invasion of Ukraine.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov traveled to North Korea this week and met with high-ranking government officials, including Foreign Minister Choe Seon-hui, Korean media reported.
At a reception in a Pyongyang hotel on Tuesday, Choe spoke with Rizhenkov about "an overall strengthening of relations" between the two countries, reported the state media KCTA.
