The FBI searched the home of former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter VIDEO

The search is in connection with a "federal investigation", but the reason for it has not been disclosed

The FBI confirmed to RIA Novosti that agents of the bureau are conducting activities in connection with a “federal investigation” at the home of former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

News Channel 13 previously aired footage of a search warrant at Ritter's home in upstate New York. The cause was noted to be unknown.

William Scott Ritter Jr. is an American author, former United States Marine Corps intelligence officer, former United Nations Special Commission weapons inspector, and convicted child sex offender. Ritter served as a junior military analyst during Operation Desert Storm.

He then served as a member of UNSCOM overseeing the disarmament of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq from 1991 to 1998, where he resigned in protest. He later became a critic of the Iraq War and United States foreign policy in the Middle East. In recent years, he has been a regular contributor to Russian state media outlets RT and Sputnik, and has visited and supported Russia since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. In June 2024, Ritter said that US authorities had seized his passport and prevented him from to visit Russia.
