Four people were killed by Russian shelling in the Ukrainian Donetsk region

Twenty multi-storey residential blocks and six administrative buildings were damaged

Russian shelling killed at least four people yesterday in Ukraine's Donetsk region, the focus of Russia's slow advance along the eastern frontline of the 29-month war against Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing BTA .

Donetsk regional governor Vadim Filashkin said at least two people were killed in shelling of a residential area in Konstantinivka, west of Bakhmut – a city that passed into Russian hands a year ago after months of heavy fighting.

Filashkin later reported two more killed and 11 wounded in Selidove, further southwest.

Twenty multi-storey residential blocks and six administrative buildings were damaged.

Ukraine-controlled parts of Donetsk region regularly come under Russian shelling and airstrikes. Russian forces control much of the district, which, along with four other Ukrainian regions, Moscow claims as its territory.

Donetsk also remains one of the hottest areas of fighting. Russia is targeting areas in the direction of the strategic eastern logistics center Pokrovsk.

At least four people were killed in Russian shelling in Donetsk on Wednesday. Yesterday's shelling began as Russian forces battled Ukrainian troops in the region of Russia's Kursk region.

Ukrainian forces stormed across the border three days ago. According to Moscow, this is an attempt by Kiev to force Russia to divert resources from the front in Ukraine.
