The European Union has expressed its readiness to send emergency aid to Myanmar and Thailand after the “heartbreaking scenes“ caused by the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit these countries. This was stated today by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, quoted by Agence France-Presse, reports BTA.
“The scenes in Myanmar and Thailand are heartbreaking after the devastating earthquake. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. The European satellites “Copernicus“ (the European Union's Earth observation program - ed. note) are already supporting relief efforts,” she wrote in the social network “Ex“.
