The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaia Kallas is arriving in North Macedonia, BTA reported.

Her visit is part of her three-day tour of the Western Balkans, during which she will reaffirm the EU's commitment to the region and deliver messages on the EU's priorities in foreign policy and security, the EU Delegation in Skopje reported.

During her visit to North Macedonia, Kallas will meet with Prime Minister Hristian Mickoski and members of the government. Together with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Timcho Mucunski and Minister of Defence Vlado Misailovski, Kalas will participate in the opening of the EU-North Macedonia Security and Defence Dialogue at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since 2023, the Council has adopted three bilateral support packages under the European Peace Facility to strengthen the capacity of the North Macedonian army. With a total of €38 million, the European Peace Facility is currently providing North Macedonia with military equipment and training in the areas of logistics, engineering, intelligence, mobility, communication and information systems, medical and training equipment.

North Macedonia is also a beneficiary of support from the European Peace Facility under the regional assistance measure for the Balkan Medical Task Force, amounting to €6 million, for the provision of medical equipment and field hospitals.

High Representative Kallas' visit will conclude at the House of Europe, where she will address a group of young people.
