Dozens of CIA agents died because of a Star Wars fan site

When entering a special password, a secret window opened for the exchange of important information between employees

At the beginning of the new century, the CIA maintained a "Star Wars" fan site to communicate with agents around the world, writes the Telegram channel "Telegrach".

This is a real "Star Wars" site with a blog and news, visited daily by thousands of fans of the film series.

The problem is that when entering a special password in the search bar, a secret window opened for the exchange of important information between CIA agents.

In early 2010. Iranian authorities exposed this network by finding matches in the IP addresses of the sites and their technical parameters - the CIA had simply placed the entire network in one IP range.

The exposure of the entire system led to the execution of several dozen CIA agents in Iran and China.

This fan site still exists on the starwarsweb network, but now leads to the official CIA site.
