There was verbal coordination on the appointment of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and these are topics that remain open. It is not correct to mention names on any occasion. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to journalists in Austria, BTA reports.
Earlier today, the press service of the head of state announced that the presidential institution had not received a written proposal for coordination of the appointment of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since verbal coordination is no longer relied on, the Council of Ministers will propose as soon as possible that all positions that are required be appointed by a complex inter-institutional factual composition, the Prime Minister said. He said that as far as he is aware, this is about exchanged remarks. I have always professed the understanding that when two gentlemen talk to each other through the media, they do not need a third. But the president is right, said Zhelyazkov, the Council of Ministers has not proposed to him for appointment persons who, within the meaning of the law and the rules for the inter-institutional complex factual composition of the appointment, such as ambassadors, the chairman of the State Agency "National Security", the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We have not formally adopted such a decision, because good institutional practices require that there be verbal coordination beforehand, said the prime minister. We have made such proposals at the beginning of the work of the current government. We have not received a response to this point, said Zhelyazkov.
Regarding Yavor Georgiev, who was detained by the police in Varna, who later died in the hospital, the prime minister said that he has enough information and will meet with the Minister of Internal Affairs Daniel Mitov. I will receive the relevant information and will inform you about it next week, he said.
