Russian military develops new drone strikes tactics in Ukraine

Adaptations of Russian drones and strike tactics, such as massing drones near the target before simultaneous strikes, have increased Russia's ability to precisely coordinate strikes

The Russians are increasing drone attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine and, according to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), they are most likely acting deliberately, UNIAN reports.

Analysts recall that on the night of July 5-6, Russia carried out a series of drone and missile strikes in Ukraine, including a "double strike" against rescue workers.

"The recent adaptation of Russian long-range drone technology and strike tactics suggests that Russian strikes on civilian targets are likely deliberate," analysts note.

In particular, Russian forces attacked a TCC in Kremenchug, Poltava region, which is the third such strike since June 30. Such strikes on TCCs are likely aimed at thwarting Ukrainian mobilization efforts, ISW notes.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service reported that Russian forces carried out two "double strikes" against Ukrainian rescue workers during night drone strikes in Kharkiv and after shelling the city of Kherson.

ISW noted that technological adaptations of Russian drones and strike tactics, such as massing drones near the target before simultaneous strikes, have increased Russia's ability to precisely coordinate strikes and hit designated targets.

"Recent Russian night strikes have increasingly resulted in civilian casualties, and it is highly likely that Russia is deliberately targeting Ukrainian civilians, including through "double strikes", likely aimed at killing rescue workers, and strikes on military commissariats," analysts said.
