Public approval of US President Donald Trump has fallen by one percentage point to 40%, the lowest level recorded in his second term. This is according to the results of the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, BTA reports.

In the previous poll in mid-July, support for the Republican president stood at 41%.

The new data highlights the deep political polarization in the country regarding Trump, Reuters notes. About 83% of Republicans approve of his administration, while among Democrats this share is only 3%. Among independent voters, roughly a third give a positive assessment of his performance as president.

Trump's economic policies receive approval from 38% of respondents, a slight increase from 35% in the previous survey.

An improvement is also observed in the assessment of his immigration policy, 43% approval from 41% in July.

The survey was conducted between July 25-27 among 1,023 adult American citizens from all states.
