New wave of drones! Ukraine hits Russian infrastructure hard

Ukraine also launched massive drone attacks against several regions in Russia tonight, causing explosions at oil processing facilities, DPA reported, citing social media reports, BTA reports.

Authorities in the affected Samara, Penza and Ryazan regions confirmed the drone attacks and said that debris from intercepted drones had fallen into industrial sites, although no damage or casualties were officially reported.

Temporary restrictions on takeoff and landing of aircraft were introduced at the Russian Samara airport today to ensure flight safety, reported on "Telegram" Artyom Korenyako, a spokesman for Russia's civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, was quoted by Reuters as saying. The airport is located near the Volga River in the Samara region, southeast of Moscow. The restrictions were later lifted.

A video posted on social media purportedly showed a large explosion at an oil facility near the city of Samara, DPA reported.

Another oil facility in Ryazan appeared to have been hit. According to the Ukrainian military, an oil refinery was hit, causing a fire on its territory.

Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed the attack but declined to provide further details, urging the public not to share photos that could help the enemy.

In a post on the "Telegram" Ukrainian forces for unmanned systems also reported hitting an oil tank belonging to the company "Annanefteprodukt" in the Voronezh region.

In the Penza region, a plant producing components for missile guidance systems was allegedly attacked.
