Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump are in advanced talks on a new comprehensive proposal, setting an ultimatum to Hamas regarding the release of the hostages and the future of the Gaza Strip, N12 reported on Saturday evening.
The proposal includes a requirement for Hamas to disarm and immediately release all hostages.
Once the demands are met, the US will head an international administration to be established in the Gaza Strip, the "Jerusalem Post" specified.
As part of the ultimatum, Trump will give the "green light" the Israeli armed forces to operate freely in the enclave if the terrorist group rejects the offer, N12 claims.
This report comes amid the release by terrorist groups in Gaza of footage of hostages Eviatar David and Rom Braslavsky, both of whom appear to be starving. The videos have escalated discussions among Israeli officials about Hamas' policy of starving hostages to increase pressure on Israel, N12 reported.
The United States should take control of the Gaza Strip, deal with Hamas and turn it into a free zone, Trump said in Qatar in May.
"If necessary, I think I would be proud if the United States took it over, turned it into a free zone," he said during a business roundtable.
"Let some good things happen, let people be placed in homes where they are safe, and Hamas will have to be dealt with," Trump promised months ago.
