US President Donald Trump may offer Russian leader Vladimir Putin access to the development of rare earth minerals in Alaska to encourage him to end the war in Ukraine. This is reported by the British publication The Telegraph, citing informed sources, News.bg reports.
According to the publication, Trump will arrive in Alaska on Friday, prepared with a number of proposals beneficial to Moscow. These include opening up access to natural resources and a partial lifting of US sanctions on Russia's aviation industry.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant is exploring possible economic compromises that Washington could make before the two leaders meet in Anchorage, with the aim of speeding up a ceasefire agreement.
“There are a number of incentives, one of which could be a potential deal for minerals and rare earth metals“, a source told The Telegraph.
The lifting of the ban on the export of spare parts and equipment needed to service Russian aircraft, as well as other relief from sanctions on Russia's aviation industry, could also prove beneficial for the US concern Boeing, the publication notes.
