Most Germans are skeptical about tomorrow's meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, which will take place in the US state of Alaska. This is shown by a survey commissioned by German public television ZDF, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Only 13% of those surveyed believe that Trump will succeed in achieving a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine, while 84% hold the opposite opinion.

Only 14% believe that Putin has a sincere interest in concluding a lasting ceasefire, and 82% reject this possibility. Nine out of ten respondents believe that Ukraine's direct involvement is essential to achieving a lasting ceasefire.

Opinions on possible territorial concessions by Kiev are divided: 42% support the idea of Ukraine giving up some of the territories under Russian control if this ends the conflict, while 45% believe that the country should continue to fight to regain control of the occupied areas.

The survey was conducted by telephone and online among 1,370 adult citizens eligible to vote between August 11 and 13.
