Ukraine needs a lasting peace based on international law and respect for its territorial integrity, said Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković after participating in a video meeting of the leaders of the “Coalition of the Willing“, BTA reports.
“I emphasized that we continue to support efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace that is in accordance with international law and the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as with long-term security guarantees. This is important both for the protection of our common values and for European and global security“, Plenković wrote on his X profile.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Brussels yesterday, where he held a video call with European allies and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the peace agreement proposed by US President Donald Trump after his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
EU and NATO leaders participated in the discussion, including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Zelensky is expected to meet with the US president in Washington today, and Donald Trump is expected to participate in a multilateral meeting with European leaders later.
“The Coalition of the Willing“ includes most major European countries, the European Union, NATO, as well as partners outside Europe such as Canada, the HINA agency specifies.
