The Financial Times defines today's meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump in the Oval Office as one of the most significant for the Ukrainian president so far, News.bg reports.

According to the publication, Kiev's goal is to restart relations with Washington, ensure a just end to the war with Russia and guarantees for Ukraine's future security.

A senior Ukrainian official quoted by the FT emphasizes that Zelensky will insist on a “productive peace process, without pressure on Ukraine to take impossible steps, such as withdrawing troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions“.

To achieve this, the Ukrainian president is ready to accept “an acceptable compromise“ along the current front line, one that would also be accepted by Ukrainian society.
