Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that the delivery of air defense systems to Ukraine is of “absolute strategic importance” before the onset of winter. His statement comes in the context of Russian air strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced earlier that its forces had attacked transport infrastructure in Ukraine used for military purposes.
Zelensky arrived in Denmark today for talks with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and to participate in a meeting with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic states of the NB8 format (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland).
Frederiksen received the Ukrainian president at her official residence in Marienborg. “Strengthening Ukraine is at the top of the agenda“, her office reported on the social network “Ex“.
The Danish prime minister emphasized that the Nordic and Baltic countries are among the strongest supporters of Ukraine's defense. "Let's show our unequivocal support for Ukraine. Let's put more pressure on Russia," she said.
Frederiksen praised Ukrainians for their "impressive strength and ability" to defend their country while Russian President Vladimir Putin "continues his vile attacks."
"The response to Russian aggression is not just about the security of Ukraine. It is about the security of Europe and the world order as we know it. Only with a strong Europe and a strong Ukraine can we ensure a lasting and just peace," she said.
At the same time, the Danish government announced that it would start producing fuel for long-range missiles in Denmark, Reuters reported.
