Two of the most popular BMWs going down in history? - 1

Recent reports suggest that BMW is considering ending production of several models, including the Z4, 8 Series Coupe and Convertible, due to their limited sales volumes. Additionally, rumors are rife that the next-generation 4 Series may not materialize, as sources at BMW Blog indicate that there are no plans to develop a 4 Series based on the CLAR architecture.

The potential death of the 4 Series doesn't spell the end for the model, however. Reports suggest that BMW could introduce an i4 coupe and convertible based on the Neue Klasse architecture, effectively switching the 4 Series to an electric drivetrain. However, BMW is discussing the possibility of offering a conventional 4 Series in the future, although this is not yet certain.

As for the tuned variants, rumors suggest that a petrol M4 may not appear for now, reflecting BMW M's plans for electrification. However, the exact trajectory of these plans is still unclear.

Despite this speculation, it appears that the models in question will continue to be produced for the foreseeable future. According to Bimmerpost, production of the M4 and 4 Series is expected to continue until June 2028, with the next-generation i4 going into production in July of that year. However, given the uncertainty surrounding future developments, it is difficult to predict with certainty what lies ahead for these models.
