A superyacht over 40 meters long burned last night off the coast of the Mediterranean resort of Saint-Tropez in France, Agence France-Presse reported, citing the fire department.
The fire, for an unknown reason, started after 8:15 p.m. (21:15 Bulgarian time) on the yacht Sea Lady II, moored in the old port of the prestigious resort on the Cote d'Azur.
“The surrounding yachts were evacuated and we installed barriers to prevent pollution... The vessel may sink“, said a fire department representative.
Around 30 firefighters and four vehicles were mobilized to fight the fire.
Sea Lady II is a 41m superyacht under the Maltese flag. Built in 1986. and renovated in 2024, she is available for charter at €80,000 per week. In addition to eight crew members, it can accommodate up to ten passengers in five cabins, each with its own bathroom.
