Model of the Chinese from Geely became Renault Grand Koleos - 1

Renault showed the Grand Koleos crossover based on the Geely Monjaro model. In fact, the new Renault Grand Koleos has borrowed the power structure of the body and the hybrid tract from the Chinese. The differences come down to a modified front part with a frameless radiator grille, in which the optics of the original model fit very harmoniously. In addition, Grand Koleos has other materials for interior finishing and other suppliers of a number of systems.

Renault Grand Koleos is a very successful result of the Sino-French partnership. The crossover is powered by the E-Tech hybrid system, which includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. There is also an alternative in the form of a 2.0-liter engine with 211 horsepower. In Grand Koleos with front-wheel drive, the engine is paired with a seven-speed “robot”, and in the version with all-wheel drive - with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The limited series Esprit Alpine is also present here, like the Renault Rafale cross-coupe, whose main difference is a two-tone body and an interior made of Alcantara and suede. In addition, this Grand Koleos has 20-inch wheels with an exclusive design and a number plate, as the production is limited to 1,955 examples.

Earlier, Renault announced that as part of the partnership with Geely, which the companies agreed on in 2023, it will use the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform. The countries also intend to jointly produce internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains and transmissions. The joint venture will include 17 plants worldwide, and its customers will be Nissan, Mitsubishi and Volvo.

It is also worth noting that Nissan and Mitsubishi, which are part of an alliance with Renault, are not involved in the Geely deal, but will act as customers of the joint venture. The same applies to the Swedish Volvo and the Malaysian Proton, which belong to the Geely holding.
