The iconic Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, a legendary rally car, is undergoing a radical transformation in the UK. The project, called the "Carbon Piranha", aims to create a lightweight, high-performance version of the original model.
Behind the project is a group of car enthusiasts led by the Auto Vision Club. They fund the build of the car through crowdfunding, offering membership packages that include the opportunity to own the finished car.
Cosworth, the original engine supplier for the RS500, is also involved. They will rebuild the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and possibly increase its power. The goal is to create a more powerful and responsive powertrain that complements the car's aggressive styling.
The most impressive feature of the Carbon Piranha will be its all-carbon body designed by Yasid Design. This will significantly reduce weight, making the car even more agile and powerful. The lightweight construction will also improve the vehicle's handling and braking performance.
The project is still a work in progress, but the final product promises to be an exciting driving experience. Only 500 of the model are planned to be made.
