Kia backed up its decision, saying that the Shooting Brake variant made up a "relatively small part" of Ceed sales, so the company is ceasing production after 16 years on the assembly line.
According to Autocar, the Ceed hatchback and Xceed estate will remain on sale, with the latter accounting for 47% of all sales of the Ceed family in Europe. In the UK, for example, only 10,000 ProCeed units were sold, around 60,000 fewer than the Ceed and Xceed combined in the same period.
Initially, production of the right-hand drive ProCeed will be discontinued, and the same fate is expected to befall the left-hand drive variant. “The ProCeed was an important model for Kia in the compact family car segment, highlighting the brand's strengths in quality, practicality and attractive design. Current customer orders for ProCeed will be fulfilled.
