Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has predicted dire consequences for Europe from the ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing escalation in the Middle East, N1 television channel reported.
“We are entering an impossible situation. If this continues, everyone in Europe will literally go to hell“, the president said during an inspection of the reconstructed control center of the Serbian electricity grid. “If the Strait of Hormuz is not opened, oil prices will kill us all.“
The Wall Street Journal earlier reported that over 3,000 ships are waiting in Persian Gulf ports to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He linked The Persian Gulf connects the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. It carries approximately one-fifth of the world's oil exports.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. The White House justified the attack by citing missile and nuclear threats allegedly coming from Tehran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a large-scale operation in response, attacking targets in Israel. American targets in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia were also hit. The strikes on Iran killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other key figures in the Islamic Republic's leadership.
