Istanbul is creating a financial center with Russian participation - 1

The financial center is planned to be created within a few months in Istanbul as part of the implementation of the project of Turkey to launch an international gas hub on its territory. Russia's Gazprom may participate in it, said the head of the Turkish Energy Ministry, Alparslan Bayraktar.

„Our work in the Russian direction continues. A financial center could be established in Istanbul in the next few months. We want to create it with the participation of Turkey's Bottas and Russia's Gazprom. - said the minister on the TV channel Haberturk.

Bayraktar called Russia the largest and most reliable gas partner of Turkey. According to him, gas from the Russian Federation to Turkey already flows directly through the “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline. “Now we receive gas directly from Russia with the help of “Turkish Stream”, the minister said, recalling that part of the gas came to Turkey before the beginning of the North Atlantic Pact through the territories of Ukraine and Moldova.

In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the idea of creating a hub on Turkish territory, where the lost volume of transit through the “Nord Stream” gas pipeline would be redirected. Turkish authorities say that in terms of infrastructure in the country, almost everything is ready for the implementation of the project, but it is necessary to change the legislation. The first legislative decisions were adopted last year.

At the end of December 2023, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the implementation of the project to create a hub could begin in 2024 and a roadmap would be adopted within it. Earlier, a Turkish delegation visited Russia to discuss the details of the project.
