Former British Deputy Defense Minister Ivor Caplin has been arrested on suspicion of paedophilia, The Sun reported.

According to the publication, Caplin was arrested at Hove Station, where he came to meet an underage boy.

Police confirmed the arrest of a 66-year-old man and said they had launched an investigation. According to The Sun, Caplin was expelled from the Labor Party in June 2024 due to unspecified serious charges.

Elon Musk also commented on the arrest of the former deputy minister. “Now we know why Labour voted against the inquiry into mass sex crimes: they are to blame”, he wrote.

In July 2024, Oldham Borough Council, led by Labour MPs, asked the Home Office to launch a national inquiry into sex crimes against minors committed by ethnic groups, and into the response of the police, prosecution service and local authorities to these crimes.

The Home Secretary Jess Phillips refused to launch such an inquiry, saying it should be conducted locally in Oldham, as it had been in Rotherham and Telford. She said it would be more objective in the eyes of the town's residents.

At the same time, The Daily Telegraph suggested that Phillips's refusal could be due to his unwillingness to alienate Muslim voters.

Musk then said that Phillips "deserves to be in prison" and that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer should resign and stand trial for allegedly being complicit in sexual abuse crimes that were committed against underage girls in northern England and were covered up or ignored for many years. These cases only began to become public in 2012.

According to the BBC, the Rotherham investigation found that between 1997 and 2013 alone Around 1,400 children were sexually abused, mainly by British Pakistanis. The Telford inquiry also found that around 1,000 girls were sexually abused over a 40-year period from the 1980s. In those two towns alone, more than 100 people have been convicted of the offences.
