Volkswagen's profit fell by a record 36% - 1

The net profit of the German Volkswagen fell by more than a third (36.3%) in the second quarter of 2025 compared to a year earlier and amounted to 2.29 billion EUR, the group said in a statement.

The reasons include low sales of the Porsche and Audi brands, as well as high restructuring costs and US tariffs. Operating profit fell by 29% to 3.83 billion euros. Despite a slight increase in deliveries, turnover fell by 3% to 80.6 billion euros.

Volkswagen has adjusted its forecast for the current year downwards. This happened, in particular, due to US import tariffs. In the first half of the year alone, they cost the concern 1.3 billion euros.

Volkswagen previously reported that its profit in the first quarter of 2025 fell by almost 41% compared to the same period last year, to 2.19 billion euros. The German automotive industry is experiencing an acute crisis, which is associated, among other things, with the deterioration of trade relations between China and the European Union, as well as between the US and the EU.
