The “Power of Siberia 2“ gas pipeline will become one of the largest energy projects of the 21st century.

This, of course, is one of the largest projects of the century. I am sure that this will be a serious organizational effort“, said Mongolian Prime Minister Gombozhavin Zandanshatar, speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The Prime Minister of Mongolia assured that his country is ready to do everything possible to implement the project.

The “Power of Siberia 2“ trunk gas pipeline project is designed to connect gas fields in Western Siberia with the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China through Mongolia. Its design capacity is up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year. In January 2022, the project passed the feasibility study stage. The State Expertise of Mongolia approved it in March 2025.

Earlier, the head of „Gazprom“ Alexey Miller announced the signing of a legally binding memorandum with China on the construction of the „Power of Siberia 2“ gas pipeline and the „Soyuz Vostok“ transit gas pipeline through Mongolia.

"Mongolia is ready to buy Russian gas, which will be delivered to China via the “Power of Siberia 2”” gas pipeline,” Mongolian Prime Minister Gombozhavin Zandanshatar said.

“Mongolia is not only a transit country, Mongolia can also consume, buy natural gas, connect large cities of Mongolia with this gas pipeline, that is, carry out gasification“, he said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“I would like to state from this rostrum the intention of the Mongolian government to provide comprehensive support for the implementation of this megaproject. We believe that this project will open up new economic opportunities and bring environmental benefits of strategic importance. "This will become an example of trilateral cooperation between Russia, China and Mongolia," he said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The "Power of Siberia 2" gas pipeline is of strategic importance for the Mongolian economy; it will deliver 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Gombozhavin Zandanshatar at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.
