The ITN law on the violation of privacy became a big topic during the week. Its finale was set by Boyko Borisov, who said that he had spoken to Slavi Trifonov and that he was going to withdraw it. However, this is an occasion to recall an incident from 1996, when journalist Sevda Shishmanova violated the personal space of the then Minister of Internal Affairs Lyubomir Nachev, who was at a party with models, on the day when three police officers were shot dead in the capital’s “Lyulin” district. This subsequently led to his resignation.
„This case is an example of how a politician’s personal space cannot be defined. This report took place on the so-called personal space and dissected the dependence of the people who ruled at the time on the underworld. It is an open secret that in the 90s, beauty pageants and modeling agencies were financed by power groups. There was a critical mass then, which is why all this happened with this report. The horizon of moral values and society's requirements for politicians and the politicians' own understanding of where the line of what is permissible was completely different. "Now the horizon is very low, the critical mass does not exist," Shishmanova said, quoted by Nova TV.
The journalist pointed out that it was then that the creators of ITN, who are part of the creators of the show "Ku-Ku", presented her with the award for bravery precisely for this report.
„Pieces of Life”
Shishmanova also talked about the film she is working on - "Pieces of Life", which tells the story of the attack in Sarafovo. The actors are Bulgarian and Israeli, the film will be shot in both Bulgaria and Israel.
The journalist said that we must be aware of the personal stories of people who become victims during wars and attacks.
"They are a true bearer of what can be common between people in this divided world. Because this speaks of the value of life," she added.
The War in the Gaza Strip
Shishmanova said that the peace agreement between Israel and "Hamas" achieves a ceasefire and an exchange of hostages and prisoners. For her, however, the biggest problem is what will follow after it.
„A very complex process is ahead, in which stabilizing international forces must be deployed in the Gaza Strip. Where they will come from - remains to be decided. The difficult task of disarming "Hamas" is also to be solved, which will be a complex and difficult process. What will be offered to "Hamas", what will be the political future of the organization, because it is unlikely to agree to surrender, Shishmanova commented.
She expressed hope that the plan will have a very serious sustainable guarantee from the countries that reached this agreement - the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.
