„The conquered state is the reason for this scandalous budget. Peevski declared war on the middle class back in 2023, when, because of it, he was ousted as chairman of the State National Security Agency. Now Borisov and GERB are joining this war. Borisov is a pawn in Peevski's war against the middle class in Bulgaria.“ This was stated by the co-chairman of „Yes, Bulgaria“ Bozhidar Bozhanov to journalists on the sidelines of the parliament.
„Two things happened between the first and second reading. At the beginning of the year, Peevski said that he should take „Lukoil“ and the government is on the way to provide it to him through nationalization. The refinery cannot be bought with citizens' money and then drained by Peevski, as happened with “Lafka“, CorpBank and Bulgartabac. The other scandalous proposal is Peevski's fatherhood – the lottery. The scheme is clear – granting a concession to a private operator, who will have a monopoly and hundreds of millions will flow to Peevski again“, said the other co-chair of the formation, Ivaylo Mirchev.
The formation called on citizens and businesses to join the protest against the budget organized today.. “Today at 6 p.m. people will be in the square in front of the National Assembly. I call on Peevski to go to them to meet him“, said Mirchev.
The People's Representative Martin Dimitrov commented on the criticism from the European Commission regarding the budget. “The European Commission confirmed our position that there is a danger that Bulgaria's financial discipline will be permanently lost with Budget 2026. Now is the last train for reforms, and the bill is paid by all citizens in three ways - directly raising taxes and social security contributions, loans that will be paid in the form of future high taxes and inflation that they cause by spending so much money“, said Dimitrov and called on the government to abandon, in the most urgent way, raising taxes and SUPTO, which hit the middle class, between the first and second readings.
“Yes, Bulgaria“ proposed over 30 measures to optimize state spending. “One of these measures that we proposed between the first and second readings of the budget - to limit bonuses in the Supreme Judicial Council, regulators, public enterprises and the administration - will be discussed today within the framework of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation. We hope that our proposal will then be considered in parliament and adopted“, said Bozhidar Bozhanov.
Conducting public procurement in private hospitals for all expenses paid by the health fund, SMS notification for medical services to stop fictitious hospitalizations, an obligation for the Bulgarian Development Bank to finance only small and medium-sized enterprises are part of the other measures proposed by the formation between the first and second readings.
