The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) recommends that Bulgarian citizens undertake trips to Austria only when necessary due to complicated weather conditions.
A message from the Situation Center on the ministry's website states that due to increased snowfalls, the weather situation in Austria is complicated.
Traffic is difficult on the roads in the provinces of Upper Austria, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vienna. Flights to and from the Austrian capital have been canceled or redirected.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Bulgarian citizens residing in or planning to visit Austria in the coming days undertake trips only in urgent cases and with appropriately equipped vehicles.
Information on the road situation can be monitored through the website of the Austrian Automobile and Motorcycle Club, and for the status of flights - the websites of the relevant airline companies or through the websites of the airports in Vienna.

This morning, Austrian media reported that Vienna's "Schwechat" airport has been temporarily closed due to winter weather conditions and heavy snowfall. Incoming flights have been redirected to other airports.
