Consultations with the president on forming a government with the political parties in the 51st National Assembly begin today. The constitutional procedure started anew after the parliament accepted the resignation of the “Zhelyazkov“ cabinet on Friday.
The first to enter the talks at “Dondukov 2“ was Denitsa Sacheva, deputy chairwoman of the GERB-SDF PG. The meeting with the head of state began at 10:00, BNT reports.
"Thank you for coming to embarrass the men in your party. History has often shown that in critical moments men hide behind women, so it does you honor. The coalition you led showed wisdom and resigned as a result of the large-scale protests that swept the country. You are now expected to show responsibility. Bulgarian citizens expect stability and responsibility in government, no matter what it is," the head of state said.
"The only general in politics for whom I work knows well when it is time for men and when it is time for women. His decisions have shown that wisdom is more important than a brute demonstration of force. For us, entering the presidential institution is like entering the largest party headquarters," said Denitsa Sacheva.
"We asked for a 20-day postponement. Unfortunately, the political leaders who tried to ride the protest, and unfortunately you yourself called for resignation and elections,", Sacheva noted.
"We acknowledge our mistakes, especially in the initial version of the budget, which suffered from coordination with unions and employers,", the GERB representative added.
"We will not participate in forming another cabinet within the framework of the 51st National Assembly,", Sacheva pointed out.
"I have never been eager to form caretaker governments, this is a difficult task,", the president emphasized.
Radev explained that he did not want an extended budget.
"Regarding my political project - there is no room here for debates - is it there or not. And let's discuss whether the cat is alive or dead. I'm talking about Schrödinger's cat, and your colleague Tomislav Donchev is an expert in this field. I suggest that we not allow these consultations to turn into an election campaign," said the head of state.
"I agree with you that looking for a black cat in a dark room, especially when there is no cat in the room, is a difficult task. But it is not me, nor the GERB political party, that constantly question parliamentary democracy," replied Sacheva.
Sacheva explained that an extended budget will be submitted.
"We will do everything necessary to make a smooth transition to entering the eurozone and we will continue to fulfill our commitments. "
