At its meeting, the Council of Ministers adopted a draft law amending and supplementing the so-called budget extension law. This was announced by the acting Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski, quoted by BNT.
It is planned that, upon subsequent approval by the National Assembly, its effect will be extended not until March 31, but until the adoption of the regular state budget for 2026. The goal is to guarantee continuity in the work of the state.
The Minister of Finance also announced that, at the insistence of the Prime Minister, a substantial analysis of all public procurements by ministries, of concluded contracts, upcoming payments and advance payments already made, will begin.
"We have collected all the information and the substantial analysis is yet to come, with the goal, of course, being to protect the public interest, protect competition and ensure that every single eurocent of state resources, in fact taxpayer resources, is used for their intended purpose," Klisurski said.
As an example, he cited a public procurement worth 500 million euros for supply and maintenance of new guardrails on the republican road network, assigned through the "Road Infrastructure" Agency. The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works has ordered an audit in this case. There are serious doubts about potentially illegal decisions of commissions in the selection of contractors, as well as about prices that could exceed the previously set estimated values for the order, Klisurski pointed out.
If additional information is available, it will be made public.
