The decision of the head of state Rumen Radev to designate the chairman of the Audit Chamber Dimitar Glavchev as a candidate for acting prime minister caused reactions among politicians.
Dimitar Glavchev is part of the nomenclature of GERB. With all due respect to him, it is clear that he is a party person, declared the resigned Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov before the start of today's Report-Election Assembly of "We continue the change". He was adamant that what is expected from the official cabinet according to the Constitution is to hold fair elections. This, of course, will also depend a lot on the composition of the Council of Ministers, especially on the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Minister of e-Government, he noted. We saw what happened in previous elections, so I hope that exactly this task will be completed in good faith, Denkov said.
We don't get involved in caretaker governments. We haven't had a president since Mr. Plevneliev's term ended. This was stated to journalists by the People's Representative from GERB-SDS Toma Bikov. “What I heard is that he was the only option”, pointed out Bykov and added "the texts that were adopted as a change in the Constitution were a proposal of “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria”.
Dimitar Glavchev, whom I know, is an extremely responsible and principled person. I hope that he conscientiously fulfills the duties he undertakes and holds fair elections that benefit all political formations. This was stated to journalists by the chairman of the SDS Rumen Hristov. As far as I understand from the President, he is the only one who has accepted this difficult task. Second – it is the president's right to choose from among the ten named persons who could occupy this position, who will be the chosen one, Hristov said.
The president chose a bright political face of GERB, the co-chairman of "We continue the change" commented to journalists. Kiril Petkov before the start of today's Reporting and Election Meeting of the party. Our politicians should not be in this cabinet under any circumstances, he added and pointed out that they will follow the selection of ministers very carefully. According to Petkov, the next ministers of internal affairs and e-government will show in which direction they will move – will there be a bought vote and will they be "burned" 400 thousand votes of the Bulgarian citizens.
Thanks to "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" we will have an official office of GERB and DPS, because they work extremely well in sync. This is what the leader of PP "Vazrazhdane" said. Kostadin Kostadinov in front of journalists. The proposal for a possible candidate for prime minister was made by PP-DB, the changes in the Constitution that were made were also at their insistence, Kostadinov pointed out and added that the idea to include the chairman of the Audit Chamber was also theirs.
"We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) returned Boyko Borisov to power, BSP leader Kornelia Ninova said in Sevlievo, where she attended a municipal conference of the party. The candidate for acting prime minister, Dimitar Glavchev, is 200 percent GERB, Ninova believes, and adds that he will do what Borisov ordered him to do.
"We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" gave the list of candidates for prime minister to the president, all related to GERB. This is what the leader of "There is such a people" wrote. Slavi Trifonov adds that Dimitar Glavchev took this post a few months ago with the votes of PP-DB.
Yesterday the Head of State Rumen Radev appointed the Chairman of the Audit Chamber Dimitar Glavchev as a candidate for acting Prime Minister in fulfillment of Art. 99, para. 5 of the Constitution, and today tasked him with proposing the composition of an interim government within seven days.
We will strive for "two in one" elections, the candidate for interim prime minister Dimitar Glavchev told journalists on his way out of the presidency. I will look for ministers who are experts, equally distant from all political forces, he stressed.
After the changes to the Constitution, the head of state could choose between the Speaker of the National Assembly, the governor or deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, the chairman or deputy chairman of the Audit Chamber and the ombudsman or his deputy. Thus, Dimitar Glavchev will become the first acting prime minister under the new rules.
The constitutional procedure for forming a regular government within the framework of the current National Assembly was exhausted after the return of an unfulfilled third exploratory mandate.
