After the public statements of the woman in labor Antonia Andonova - the mother who reported insults and slaps during childbirth and the midwife - a story also from the anesthesiologist who participated in the birth. Dr. Karabelova described the situation as "unrealistic expectations" of the woman in labor regarding the birth process itself. She denied that there was any aggression. Today, many people gathered in front of the hospital - some in support of the woman in labor, others - in defense of the midwife. To this day, inspections at the hospital continue.
The accusation of the woman in labor Antonia Andonova for verbal and physical aggression is directed at the obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Shikova. In her post as the first to slap, however, she points to the anesthesiologist who participated in the birth. In front of the Nova TV camera, Dr. Karabelova denies that there was any assault on the woman in labor.
„I can't explain whose voice and hand hit her. I understand that there is no direct accusation against me, but she makes us accomplices in a crime“, commented Dr. Tsvetelina Karabelova, an anesthesiologist at SBALAG “Maichin Dom“.
A controversial point in the case between the medical team and the patient turned out to be the moving of the woman in labor to another room, as well as the administration of additional anesthesia.
According to Dr. Karabelova, the woman in labor complained about being moved from one room to another, but the team was unable to assist.
“She complains about why she moved from one room to another alone – we don't carry women in our arms. If more anesthetic is added, she will not be able to push and give birth normally“, said Dr. Karabelova.
Today, dozens of people stood up in defense of both sides.
“I was lying in the pathological pregnancy ward and was the subject of the same treatment, accompanied by verbal attacks“, says Natalia Ivanova.
The medical institution assures that there is a dialogue with the relatives of the woman in labor.
“Yesterday we had a two-hour conversation. Regarding the ethical problem, a decision was made for the ethics committee to investigate the case. We do not agree with drawing hasty conclusions without evidence“, said Dr. Stoyan Borisov, chairman of the Medical Union at SBALAG “Maichin Dom“.
