Protest and counter-protest are taking place in front of the "Maichin Dom" in Sofia. The reason for the demonstrations is the case of a woman in labor who complained that she was insulted, beaten and treated rudely by Dr. Irena Shikova, who works at the medical facility.
The protesters express dissatisfaction with the doctor's rude attitude towards the woman in labor. Counter-protesters stand in support of Dr. Shikova, reports bTV.
There is a heavy police presence at the scene, and the actions are peaceful.
One group of citizens is demanding the dismissal of Irena Shikova and the withdrawal of her rights to practice her profession, as well as the resignation of the executive director of the “Mother's Home" Prof. Dr. Ivan Kostov.
The participants in the counter-protest called for respect to be shown to the doctors at the hospital.
