Two drug greenhouses were discovered during a police operation in the capital's “Boyana” district, two people were detained and 1 kg of dry herbaceous mass and 57 pots with plants of the hemp genus were seized, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
The specialized police operation was conducted on April 6 by officers of the capital's Sixth RU. A 50-year-old man with a criminal record and a 44-year-old woman were detained when leaving a house in the capital's "Boyana" district. In the arrested woman's bag, forensic experts found several envelopes containing over 400 grams of dry grassy mass.
Procedural - investigative actions followed in the building, where a room adapted and equipped for growing marijuana was discovered. Numerous planted plants in different stages of development and about 500 grams of dry herbaceous mass were seized.
As part of the investigation, a search was also carried out in the woman's home, where an additional room equipped with heating and lighting systems was discovered. It cared for plants planted in 21 pots.
More than 200 grams of dry herbaceous mass were seized, as well as chemical preparations supporting the development of plantations. An expert report shows that the total amount of seized marijuana is 1,091 grams. The exact amount of green foliage in the pots remains to be determined.
The two detainees were brought in as defendants and imposed measures of “detention in custody” for up to 72 hours. The Sofia City Court ruled in favor of imposing permanent measures on the detainees. Work on the case continues under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
Yesterday, the Ministry of the Interior announced that during a specialized operation of the Main Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime” (GDBOP) a modern equipped drug greenhouse was discovered in Sofia, again in the "Boyana" district. Two men were detained on the spot, one of them a Bosnian citizen, who was taking care of the narcotic plants.
